From Pawed Pals Pet Rescue, via Selkirk Animal Control, it’s the newest member of the SCR family… Ruby!
Ruby is about 18 months old, and weighs 42 pounds. She was advertised as a Beagle cross, but she’s much bigger than a Beagle, and her coat is not that short. She actually looks like a very small Labrador. She’s energetic and playful and Denver is in love. Finally, someone who will boss him around! It’s a huge relief.
Now, off to buy some more toys for Ms Energetic Chewer. Currently the score is Ruby 6, Toys 0. The red ball in this photo? Already dead.

a power chewer huh… the only thing that doesn’t get destroyed over here is the x-large red kong, or the large black one. Buy her a size up from what the packaging says on the red kongs and you should be good. Oh and the Galileo nylabone is also a survivor.
She looks 100% like a beagleXlab mix to me. They often come out with nothing but white on the chest and hound dog eyes. Congratulations! I was going to ask what Dallas thought of this usurper, but I see that she’s retired from the cast of characters. I didn’t catch that at the time…my condolences.
Thanks, dp… we miss the DallasDog.
Huh, a little Googling and I discover that the “beagador” is one of those so-called “designer breeds.” Good grief. Who knew?
June - we’ve been buying all the toys pretty big so that we don’t have to worry about Denver swallowing them by accident. Turns out that’s a happy coincidence!
Ruby has lucked into a wonderful home, and the slightly demanding expression on her face (Possibly: “Just what do I get for being this good?”) suggests that she is already well aware of that fact and feeling very secure. She’s adorable! I’m so sorry about Dallas.
